I don’t know about you but Love Island is definitely giving me tan envy this Summer. 

I’ve caved in this year and decided to give Love Island a go and I hate to admit it but I’m totally hooked. It certainly gives you the escapism you need after a long day. It’s hilarious and I love it! But yeah, I get to the first ad break and I have to say I’m feeling a little pastey. Decembrrr...

What happened?! Last time I checked in it was May, now it's December tomorrow!! It only hit me today as I took the dog out for a walk this morning and nearly lost my fingertips. I had a sudden realisation that it's about to all kick off and the next few weeks will be mental. We've got the elf arriving tomorrow (Evie is hoping he's called Loveheart Snowball head this year. Errrr ok...) so that means I'll be up till midnight each night trying to think up different scenarios for him. It's fun at first but after about 10 days the novelty totally wears off and I find myself cursing this cocky little, creepy-eyed festive ninja. We've got all the usual Christmas fayres and parties but this year it's the first School play and I have been looking forward to this since the day Evie was born!! She didn't get the role of Mary but that's ok, (breathe) we've dealt with that and moved on, (breathe again) and I just know she's going to smash the role of the Christmas Fairy.

So this is the part where I lead into "don't forget to make your appointments" for the last time this year. I've only got a few spaces left so if you do wanna book in then please don't leave it any longer or you may be left disappointed and looking like the Grinch this Christmas...

Pug Mum!!

Meet Maximus, the newest member of our fam. Am I crazy? Yes is the answer. Just when I thought life couldn't possibly get any more chaotic we had this crazy idea to get a puppy. I did not realise that it would be such hard work. I'm constantly behind him making sure he's not chewing on wires, teasing the cat, jumping all over the kids and every 5 minutes I'm calling out "Maximus! Toilet!". But on the plus side he has certainly helped to remove any desires I had for another baby, which Paul is relieved about. And even though he's destroying my house and tearing holes in every single sock he encounters (and this is whilst they are still on a foot), he just has to look at me and tilt that cute little head of his and my heart melts. He's just SO CUTE. He really has completed our little family and we love him to pieces. So for Mother's Day this year all I'm hoping for is for someone else to clean up the poop parcels being left behind my sofa and for the girls to be 15 years old already so they can take him for a walk whilst I relax with a penguin and a cup of tea. Heaven!

Making it beautiful

It's what all us beauty therapists have in common, we LOVE to make things beautiful. It could be anything from gelling a set of dull nails to spray tanning a pair of milky white legs, it could even be making somebody's day beautiful by giving them the most incredible Lava shell massage!! Perhaps you wouldn't be a very good therapist if you didn't have that desire to make people happy by creating beautiful things for them.

My need (or should I say my obsession) to make everything pretty even extends into my home. When we moved into our house I started with small projects like painting frames, making tea light holders and decoupaging letters and jars. It's great fun and I loved taking something that was a little bit boring and turning it into something splendid.

Over time I have become braver and my latest up-cycling venture is by far my best. 3 years ago I rescued an old cupboard from Dad's summerhouse and I decided a few weekends back that it was now time to 'make it beautiful'. 

I have discovered the most amazing paint, Annie Sloan chalk paint. It's super easy to use, no sanding needed and it dries quickly. 2 coats of paint and a layer of wax later and eh voilà! One bedroom cabinet that I am absolutely in love with!! So in love with it in fact that without noticing I have been recreating this look in my beauty work. 2 weeks later and these toes are still works of art that I'm happy to show off when the sun allows me to.

So I guess I could say I'm on a mission, a life long mission to beautify!!! It doesn't stop at cabinets and jam jars, as I mentioned earlier humans are just as rewarding. The thought of a new client with a pair of particularly tired and perhaps even slightly crusty feet would do nicely. I've got plenty of OPI varnishes that I still need to experiment with and a whole ton of rhinestones that need to be stuck on something....

Hmmm, it gives me so much satisfaction when I transform something cheerless into something beautiful!!

Are your feet Summer - Ready??

 Can you believe that it's nearly June?? I cannot wait for a bit of summer sun!! I've had all my holidays for the year now which I admit is a bit rubbish, however it does mean it's going to be a fun summer at home with the family. Plenty of Pimms, paddling pools and BBQ parties. It's the season where everything goes Al Fresco and that includes your feet. Yes ladies, you cannot hide those plates of meat in your socks forever!! Ohhh, new look!!

One of my jobs this week was to order more business cards and as I sat down to do it that's when it hit me, what a perfect opportunity to rebrand!! I guess I get bored easily so I LOVE doing things like this. I wanted to keep it kinda cute and along the beauty lines so I decided to keep the pink in there. It's a bit more modern with a little touch of glam thrown in, I can't resist a bit of glitter at the moment!! What do you think??

I love my Blog

I do love my Blog, but I admit I'm terrible at showing it just how much I love it. I have every intention of coming on here and chatting to you all about what's going on at Treats but as i'm sure you are all aware i'm a busy mum with 2 jobs, 2 kids, 1 cat, 1 Playstation obsessed husband and a 3 bed house that's in need of decorating!! Yes life is busy but that's no excuse, so I guess this is kind of a late New Years resolution. I'm going to change and I will Blog more often. There I've said it, so I have to do it now!! Eeek!!

Anyway, the other reason i'm here is to talk about another kind of Love - Valentine's Day!! 14th Feb is just around the corner so let me know ASAP if there's anything you want to book in for. Season's Treat-ings!!

(Excuse the cheesy title but I couldn't resist!!)



So I heard on the Radio this morning that Paul McCartney earns £200,000 a year in royalties from "Wonderful Christmas Time".
Ruddy LOVE that song!!!! Love this time of year full stop to be honest, and now I'm a mum it's brilliant because I get to be a kid all over again.

I actually went back for a refresher session at their Head Office a couple of weeks ago. I've been doing gels for a while now and was feeling a little out of the loop. There are new gels and new techniques which I had no idea about so it was great and I have now fallen in love with gels all over again. Awww.

Before I pop off, apologies for not being in touch but I have been uber busy these past few months. Not only have I been brushing up on my beauty skills, but I have gone back to my job at M&S (get your Sparks card peeps!!) and I decided to learn semi permanent eyelashes. Absolutely lovin' it so far, it's pretty fiddly and very time consuming but the results are lovely. Just working my way through my case studies at the mo and so far the feedback from my tutor has been awesome. I was kinda hoping it would all be up and running for Christmas (how silly of me) so it's something you folks can look forward to in the new year.

Right I'm off now to drink some mulled wine and write my cards.

New for October 2015….

Hopi Ear Candle

As you all know, I have been interested in going down the holistic route for a while now.  I really love giving Indian Head massages and I have been itching to add another treatment to my list, so here it is…. Hopi Ear candling!!



Ear candling is a traditional therapy which is used to help treat many conditions of the ear, nose and throat area. It is believed that the ancient Greeks first used them, but there is evidence of them being used all over the world for cleansing, purifying and healing on a spiritual basis. Today the candles tend to be used purely on a physical basis.



The treatment consists of a candle being lit in each ear, one at a time, and is then followed by a really lovely facial massage which concentrates on the sinuses and specific pressure points. Hopi ear candling may sound a bit odd but I can honestly say it is a deeply relaxing, calming and soothing treatment, and is absolutely non-invasive.

The candles are made from hollow tubes of cotton soaked in Beeswax and essential oils which vaporise once lit. The candles are placed into the ear and act like a chimney, causing the warm air inside to rise, creating a vacuum at the bottom. It is this vacuum which gently massages the ear and helps to remove excess wax and other impurities.

Hopi ear candling can be used to help with many conditions such as:

• Sinusitis
• Hay fever
• Excessive earwax
• Headaches
• Vertigo
• Neuralgia
• Colds and flu

I have been having slight headaches on and off for a while now and I don't know if it's a coincidence but since having this treatment I haven't suffered since!! My mum has been having this done for years, every time she gets a slight build up in her ear (sorry for sharing mum!!) and she swears by them. She even does it to herself at home on the sofa, (under supervision of course, just incase she catches fire!!)

So if you suffer from any of the conditions mentioned it may be worth giving it a go, and if you don't then why not try it out anyway as it's incredibly relaxing and is a great stress buster. It makes a fabulous add on treatment to any facial or massage, but if that's too much it's still a lovely little treatment on it's own.
